Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
