The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
